The Inaugural Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington Race for the Future 5K will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at 8AM in Anacostia Park. This race will benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, a non-profit organization committed to providing holistic programming to give children and teens in the DC Metro region the support and guidance they need to succeed! All fund raised will benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs and programs in the DC Metro area.
We will also be having a 1 mile kid’s fun run, with club members of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington invited to participate!

Race Day Logistics
Packet Pickup and Timing
The race time will be 8 a.m. We advise that you arrive early, as we will be passing out bibs and t-shirts at the race. The timeline for the morning is as follows: - 7 a.m. – We will begin passing out bibs and shirts in between the start line and skating pavilion. - 7:30 a.m. - Pre-race warm-up session with Greg Jones of Elite Fitness. - 7:45 a.m. - Race day programming begins with Intern John of the Kane Show on HOT 99.5 and featuring DC Councilwoman and Mayorial Candidate Muriel Bowser! - 8 a.m. – Race start.
Getting to the Race
Driving: The race start and finish line will be near the skating pavilion at Anacostia Park, at 1900 Anacostia Drive, SE, Washington, DC 20020. There is a parking lot near the race start and finish line that will be available only to race participants and volunteers. Parking on site requires a parking permit that is provided through a link in participants final registration e-mail. Metro: If you are using Metro, take the GREEN line to Anacostia station, and exit towards the metro parking lot and follow the sidewalk path and enter the park through the fenced gate. Note that the metro opens 7 a.m., so be sure to catch the first train possible to arrive at the race on time.
